Joanne & Dave, Coolbawn Quay

I was very excited when Joanne booked me last year. I went to school with her sister Colette and know all of her other sisters to say hello to. And I had always wanted to photograph a wedding at Coolbawn Quay. I love different and quirky venues but even this place surpassed my expectations.
Getting booked by Joanne and Dave

Joanne and Dave got married last Thursday at Coolbawn Quay in Co. Tipperary.  Usually, I visit the venue prior to the big day but I had researched this one online and had my ideas formulated long beforehand.

I was very excited when Joanne booked me last year. I went to school with her sister Colette and know all of her other sisters to say hello to. And I had always wanted to photograph a wedding at Coolbawn Quay. I love different and quirky venues but even this place surpassed my expectations.

The Venue – Coolbawn Quay is like an Irish version of Wisteria Lane

As I pulled into the car park last Thursday, it felt like I had pulled up on Wisteria Lane. It was fab! Dotted around a green were pretty houses with white picket fences. It definitely looked like somewhere in America rather than somewhere in Ireland. The first person I met was Dave who was very friendly and pointed me towards where the girls were. The house the girls were getting ready in was a gorgeous whitewashed house with my favourite colour (purple) painted on the door. Joanne’s nephews were pucking a sliotar outside.

The Families

The minute I walked in, Joanne and the girls were warm and welcoming which always settles me. I love working with people who are relaxed and warm. The lovely Amy from Reveal Studio’s in Tullamore was busy making the girls’ hair look beautiful and Joanne’s sister in law Jodie was applying Joanne’s makeup. Micheal, Joanne’s only brother turned up shortly after and announced himself as one of the bridesmaids. He was one very funny bridesmaid.

I spent some time with Dave and his family and had a great chat with his Grandad who told me that he ran at my local athletics club (Tullamore Harriers) in the 1960s. All in all, it was a really lovely day spent with lovely people who looked after me so well. Congratulations again Joanne and Dave. You were so easy to work with and I had a great day. I don’t think I need to tell you how well you both looked. The photos say it all <3
