I've loved photography since aged 9 when I won a Kodak 35mm camera in an art competition.
I wasn't always a photographer and I have my four daughters to thank for that! In 2006, my husband Malachy and I welcomed our twin girls into the world. Priorities suddenly changed and my career as a software engineer was put on hold. On maternity leave, I began to capture every moment of the girls' milestones. Social media came along and suddenly my photography started to get noticed. I didn't know it at the time but this was the beginning of a whole new adventure and career for me!
Some time later, I graduated from Dublin City University with a Master of Science in Multimedia and this gave me the boost I needed to start my own business. Paula Nolan Photography began in 2010 when I shot my first wedding but only really got going in earnest in 2012 after baby number 4 had arrived.
In 2015, I became a Licentiate member of the Irish Professional Photographer's Association (IPPA) and was thrilled to have won awards for my images in the 2017 Bank of Ireland IPPA Photographer of the Year Awards.
I am primarily a wedding photographer but when I'm not shooting weddings I love to capture nature and life as it unfolds naturally. I am rarely without my camera and my Instagram feed is full of everything from family to travel and of course weddings. I do quite a bit of work for tourism. Click here for a glimpse.
My photography style is relaxed, unobtrusive and real. I prefer to adopt a documentary style as I work rather than stage images. I document those family groups too but I try my very best to make it a fun experience.
I am creative and I love to experiment but what I really love is to get better at what I do. I really enjoy meeting new couples and families and I'm told that one of my best talents is my ability to put people at their ease. I think this definitely shows in my photography.
Every couple is different so every set of wedding photos is unique. If you like what you see, drop me a line. I'd love to hear from you! Don't forget to visit my blog before you go. I also do some commercial photography a small amount of which can be seen here, Check out my blog under the 'commercial' category for more.
